Chicken Nuggets

Chicken Nuggets

I am speechless and that takes some doing. Please keep the chatter down in the back row.

Micky D’s must be the national food in the ‘Bizarro World’. If you have time to read this article, please do so. If this shit is going on with the McNuggets you can bet it is in everything that they are selling. The Beatles were way ahead of their time. Long before big business starting putting tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), a form of butane in their bottom line. Time for a tofu burger and a big salad.

Tune in next week and I will be discussing the nomenclature of the M-14 (showing my age again).

See ya, Mike

Once upon a time in a far, far away land there lived a witch, though she
likes to be called a wizard. In this land anything the witch/wizard
touched turned to gold. In our case, it was an Eden House iphone/ipad
app. You say, cut the shit and get to the point. Okay, Elizabeth has
designed an Eden House app and we all lived happily ever after. Yes, it
is a freebie (link) and we would love your feed back and suggestions.
No…porn is out of the question. I think it is awesome and she created
the app all by herself. I am already looking for tweaks and ways to
update it. Rumor has it that she is working on getting the photo
gallery on there and adding it to the Android market.

No Smoking

No Smoking

Well buckaroos it is THAT time. As of January 1, 2012, the Eden House
is non smoking. The only place on the property to take that ever
soothing draw on that Virginia Slim menthol will be the elevated sundeck
over the parking lot. Sorry smokers but “those guys” are tired of
smelling your smoke. I must confess, I am one of “those guys.” I hope
this is not too much of an inconvenience and it is just short walk. The
steps will be good for the cardiovascular.

Bob Germany

Bob Germany

I’m sad to announce that one of the good/crazy ones left us this past
Friday. Bob “only stupid questions deserve an answer” Germany left us
and is now kicking butt either up or down there. I’m sure he is kicking
back with a beer, smoking a cigarette and talking bout the buying a
houseboat or a sailboat for a dollar and a six pack. That man could
talk some shit. We are going to miss you Bobby.

THAT AIN'T FRESH

THAT AIN'T FRESH

This is shocking information! Ads tell us that it is pure and natural,
and almost all of us are buying it. More than 620 million gallons of
orange juice are sold per year in the United States, according to market
research from Nielsen. Alissa Hamilton’s book “Squeezed: What You Don’t
Know About Orange Juice,” that is planned to come out in May from Yale
University Press, reveals all the truth about orange juice.

Consumers have a right to know what they are consuming, Hamilton says,
and that is at the heart of her story. Here’s what Alissa says about OJ:

In the process of pasteurizing, juice is heated and stripped of oxygen,
a process called deaeration, so it doesn’t oxidize. Then it’s put in
huge storage tanks where it can be kept for upwards of a year. It gets
stripped of flavor-providing chemicals, which are volatile. When it’s
ready for packaging, companies such as Tropicana hire flavor companies
such as Firmenich to engineer flavor packs to make it taste fresh.
People think not-from-concentrate is a fresher product, but it also sits
in storage for quite a long time.

This is just crazy! We are better off just eating a whole orange than a
glass of orange juice. It has more fiber, more vitamin C, and it is
actually a real orange.

I am going back to the frozen OJ like when I was a kid. It was great
back then and I’m sure it still is good. Do you remember when ‘Tang’
came out? That is another story…

Tom Waits

Tom Waits

Little Donnie Howard said, “this might be the best thing Tom Waits has ever done.” I resisted and after much pain…he is right. This CD brings me such joy and makes me feel forty years younger. You say, how can this be? It’s the gospel. No alcohol, drugs or religion. It’s the fountain of youth. Take a listen and let me know what you think.

Get the deluxe edition. It has three additional songs of which, ‘Tell Me’ might be my favorite. It has the youth elixir that I mentioned above. I will never doubt you again Donnie.

No Need To Wash Your Hands Just Your Fruit

Fruits and vegetables, whether from the garden or from the store, may have bacteria and other illness-causing pathogens on their surface. Many stores sell expensive sprays meant to disinfect the produce safely, but you can use plain white vinegar instead. The acids in vinegar kills up to 98 percent of bacteria, according to a test performed by Cook’s Illustrated. Washing the produce properly also prevents the vinegar from leaving behind a sour taste.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need

  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Vegetable brush

1-     Fill a spray bottle with three parts water and one part white distilled vinegar. Combine thoroughly.

2-     Rinse any visible soil off the fruit or vegetable before disinfecting. Use vegetable scrub brush if necessary. Pat dry.

3-     Spray the produce down with the vinegar solution, completely coating it. Allow the vinegar solution to sit on the produce’s skin for one to two minutes.

4-     Rinse the fruit or vegetable under cool, running water to remove any vinegar flavor. Serve immediately.

As Elizabeth would say “that’s how I roll”

P.S.  Do rinse off your cantalope and watermelons lot’s of bug stuff on those

Cell Phone Radiation

Cell Phone Radiation

Tips to reduce cell phone radiation

- Give your phone some space. It shouldn’t have been a big shock last week when the World Health Organization categorized cell phones as possible “carcinogenic hazard”. User manuals typically advise against direct contact. Holding a cell phone 2 inches from your ear reduces the radiation “by a factor of four”.

- Get Wired. using a wired earpiece can cut radiation even more. If you’re worried about low-level radiation emitted by the wire itself, minimize it by spending a few bucks on a ferrite choke.  Avoid Bluetooth wireless earpieces, which emit radiation right at the ear.

- Pick your spots. Few people can forswear cell chats all together. But do note that a phone emits more radiation when in motion or receiving a weak signal. Safest, in fact, are calls that you receive outside near a cell tower while standing perfectly still.

P.S. if you know what the hell a ferrite choke is please tell us.

Talk safe my friend……..
