Q: Is the Eden House considered a bed & breakfast? Do you offer breakfast in the morning? Flushing, MI
A: I prefer the terminology 'inn' or 'guest house.' We offer a cold drink at check- in and a complimentary Happy Hour from 4 to 5 P.M. daily. Sorry, no food in the morning. We do offer coffee, tea (several varieties) and hot chocolate. 24/7/365. However, you can get an outstanding breakfast right next door at Azur. -Mike

Q: We will be traveling with our infant daughter this vacation. Do you have a baby monitor that we can use? Tell Pasha we send our love. Ali, St. Michaels, MD
A: Yes, we do have a baby monitor. You are welcome to use it. -Mike

Q: I have heard that you have an acoustic guitar for guests to use. Any truth to this rumor? It would be so nice to not lug my guitar to Key West. Whitney, Franconia, NH
A: Yes, we do. 'Guitar Dan' visits twice a year and cleans & replaces the strings. -Mike

Q: Is it true that I need to send a deposit to confirm my reservation? Gary, Liverpool, UK
A: Yes. The last time I checked, you do need to. There are a couple resorts on Mars where you can make a reservation with no deposit. -Mike

Q : Does the Eden House have or know of a place for my girlfriend and me to work out? Lumpy, Jackson, MS
A: Yes, if you must. There are three places off the top of my head within one mile to break a sweat. -Bill

Q: I have never been to Key West. What should I bring in the line of clothing? Don, Flushing, MI
A: As little as possible. You are going on vacation'not the prom. There is no dress code in Key West. So why not take advantage of it? You might even skip a shave or two while visiting the rock. -Mike

Q: Do you have irons and ironing boards? Steve, Woonsocket, RI
A: Yes. If you really think it is necessary to iron something just ask at the front desk. -Mike

Q: Is it true that you have condoms in a large basket in your lobby? If so, why and when did this tradition start? George, Boise, ID
A: Yes, and they even come with written directions. We are not encouraging sex, but if you must, do so safely. The tradition started many years ago when my manager at the time, Robin Huckabee, rode in the Fantasy Fest parade as the 'Condom Lady'. She tossed condoms to the spectators as she rode down Duval Street on her bicycle. She and the bike were all in pink. What a sight! She parked her bicycle in front of the 500 building and left the basket full of condoms there for several days. The condoms went like hot cakes and a tradition was started. -Mike

Q: My husband says that people in Key West don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain. I have never been to Key West; is he telling the truth? Monica, NY, NY
A: Your husband is correct. But why would anyone want to come in from the rain? -Mike

Q: Can I bring my dog, my cat, and my two parrots to the Eden House? They are well behaved. Wilma, Harrisburg, PA
A: Sorry, no pets. You can bring your boyfriend or husband if they are house broken. -Mike

Q: Do you offer airport pickup? Deb, Bromley, UK
A: No, not at present, but there is talk about it in the future. Grab a cab. Tell the cabbie to take you to the Eden House and not the Eaton Lodge or Eaton Manor. -Mike

Q: Do you have off street parking? Can I reserve a parking space? Is there a fee to park? Lois, New London, OH
A: Yes, no, and no. Yes, we have off street parking. It is on a first come, first serve basis. No, we do not charge for parking. Keep in mind there is no need for a car in old Key West and it almost impossible to find parking in high season. If you bring a car, park it and leave it parked unless you absolutely have to go some place. -Mike

Q: Is Key West a tropical island covered with sand and small thatched huts everywhere? If not, what is the big attraction? Beatrice, Petaluma, CA
A: Don't we wish. No, our beaches are not our strong suit, and they leave a lot to be desired. Key West does have the largest historic district in the nation. Our sunsets are some of the best and Key West has a flavor like no other place in the world. Lots of folks do prefer Miami and Orlando, that's why they make Buicks and Chevys. -Mike

Q: I want to bring my laptop and was wondering if I can access the internet at the Eden House? Lulu, Laramie, TX
A: Funny you should ask. Randy and Victoria Soares were just here and Randy installed a new wireless system at the Eden House. If your computer is wireless ready, you can access our DSL from the pool and lobby areas. I encourage using the internet as little as possible while on vacation. But if you must, you must. -Mike

Q: Any information on suntan lotions, SPF, and shelf life, etc.? Fred, San Francisco, CA
A: John Koch, P.A., a regular at the Eden House, just laid this one on me. Per John, the SPF breaks down in the suntan lotion after six months and can cause skin irritation. So get rid of the stuff after six months. I am now putting dates on my suntan lotion and I just got rid of some that I know was three and four years old. Wow! John also said that SPF 15 to 45 is only about a 3 % difference. Just use lots of lotion and use it often. -Mike

Q: What is the darn temperature in Key West in the summer? I get a different temperature every time I ask someone. Perplexed, Pocatello, ID
A: Why not get it straight from the horse's mouth, see our Island Weather page. This way you can blame it on him if things don't work out. I love having someone to blame things on. Don't you? -Mike

Q: Do you have hair dryers in the rooms? Ralph, Amarillo, TX
A: Why dry your hair in this humidity? Just push it back and head for Duval Street. Some of the rooms do have hair dryers, and we have some dryers at the front desk. Mike

Q: Is clothing optional at the Eden House? Homer, Perth, Australia
A: Topless sun bathing is fine as long as the folks around you don't mind. We have an elevated sun deck that is great place to get those pale areas some color. We just ask that you keep it to yourself and do not turn it into a dog and pony show. -Mike

Q: What is your policy with guests hoarding lounge chairs by the pool? Rosie, Mil-Wau-KEY
A: We have the best guests in the world. But as George Castanzas would say, '30 minutes and then throw the 'garbage' on the floor.' I think 60 minutes is more aprophe. ' Mike

Q: Is it true that you are a redneck, foul mouth jerk? Lilly, Woodstock, GA
A: The girls from Atlanta think so. Have you been talking to them? (See the framed postcard in the lobby ...) -Mike
